Chronic Elbow Pain,
Producer Bernie Williams

He has produced Ben Affleck, Madonna, Richard Dreyfuss. Bernie Williams also produced a lot of elbow pain for himself.

Making a motion picture requires a lot of behind the scenes people. While the general notion that the stars make a picture a success or lack of stars make the picture a failure, a film will never get to this stage without the Hollywood producer.

Producers are aptly named because they do just that, produce movies. One of the ways they produce movies is to broker the deals necessary to ensure the multi-million dollar funding the picture needs to get off the ground.

One such producer is Bernie Williams, "(Back in) 1999 I had a lot of pain in my right elbow. I can joke now that I probably got it from writing out those huge checks for the movies I make. Seriously though, I was experiencing horrendous pain for over six months."

Bernie has been in the business a long time, his resume includes producing such films as Dirty Rotten Scoundrels with Michael Caine and Steve Martin, What About Bob? with Bill Murray and Richard Dreyfuss, Who's That Girl? with Madonna, Ragtime, the last movie of the great James Cagney, and at the time of this writing he had just completed Daredevil with Ben Affleck.

Writing the big checks is not what caused Bernie's pain, but rather a more humanitarian activity. "When I am not financing movies, I help run a "non-kill" dog shelter. Some of the dogs we have are big, real big. When they are leashed they really pull on my arms, especially my right arm. Once the pain in my elbow started, it got really bad. Some people call this pain, tennis elbow. I call it "over active dog elbow."

"I had great reservations about Prolotherapy, being a little skeptical. And I hate injections anyway," Bernie says, but once he got those injections, his reservations were lost. "I came here to Joint Rehab a few times and had those few shots with you and I gotta tell you, within a matter of weeks it disappeared and it has not returned."

"I'm still working with the dogs. Still picking up dog crates and having big dogs take me for a walk. My right arm is now my strength arm. Being able to work with these dogs is my way of giving back to society for the great life I have. And, it's very rewarding. It centers me. It makes me realize that these animals, which are not just dogs, all animals depend on us, and how much society is cruel to animals generally, especially dogs, because they're your best friends. And, they are very forgiving and loving. Bernie adds, "And I'm still writing checks for movies."
